Supporting meaningful initiatives through the TAL Community Foundation

We created the TAL Community Foundation in 2016 to create a space for giving, interacting, sharing, and connecting with each other and the community.

Through a coordinated approach of initiatives and partnerships, the Foundation aims to make a meaningful impact on social and community issues. It also provides opportunities for our people to get involved in their own community through volunteering, mentoring, and fundraising.

Last financial year, we contributed $816,083 to our charity foundation partners. Our people volunteered 3,148 hours to assist community causes they’re passionate about.

Since 2016, the TAL Community Foundation has contributed a total of $7.5 million, with our people raising more than $1 million.

Our community partnerships

While the TAL Community Foundation has contributed to 120 individual charities since 2016, we have four long-standing community partnerships. These not-for-profit organisations align with our focus areas of youth overcoming disadvantage, positive mental wellbeing, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Throughout the year, we seek opportunities to help these incredible organisations raise funds and increase their impact:

Empowering our people to give back
We encourage our people to support causes they care about by matching their donations throughout the year. This means they can make double the difference for their chosen charity or community group.

For our team members who want to volunteer their time, we offer every TAL employee a day of paid volunteering each year to help their community.
Oceans to Outback

During October, over 160 TAL team members participated in a month-long Oceans to Outback fitness challenge to raise funds for one of our community partners, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

After choosing their kilometre goal, participants walked, ran, or cycled throughout the month in return for donations from friends and family. Our people raised $19,264 during the month, which was matched by TAL to bring our total contribution to $40,000. This funding goes direct to RFDS so they can continue providing medical equipment, life-saving medication, counselling, and health education to assist Australians living in regional, rural and remote communities.

We’re grateful to our people for their efforts and enthusiasm in supporting this worthy cause.

You can read more about TAL’s community contributions and social equality initiatives in our Contribution Report 2023/2024.
